UC Davis Natural Reserve System

Staff field trip at the Quail Ridge Reserve.

People

The NRS encompasses hundreds of faculty, staff, students, and others from all over the University of California system. The NRS supports environmental research and instruction by providing these people with protected, well-managed natural localities, together with field facilities, expert staff assistance, and long-term environmental databases.

Director

Susan Harrison, professor of Environmental Science and Policy, was appointed director of the UC Davis Natural Reserve System in 1998.

Reserve Staff

The UC Davis Natural Reserve System (NRS) is administratively separated in two units: Campus Reserves, consisting of Bodega Marine, Jepson Prairie, McLaughlin, Quail Ridge, and Stebbins Cold Canyon; and the Eagle Lake Field Station, managed through CSU Chico.

Our dedicated staff works together to accomplish the goals of the system. The staff fulfill the administrative, technological and communicative needs of the system and provide services and assistance to faculty, researchers, and students.

NRS Advisory Committee

The NRS Advisory Committee advises the UC Davis NRS Director on issues concerning the management, operation, and improvements of reserve facilities, services, and programs.
